- Take a proper nap after the surgery
As suggested by the doctor you have to take a nap for a few hours. If you sleep or simply close your eyes & lay down, it will help to lessen the discomfort and then the recovery will increase at a fast pace.
- Take the medications on time
Make sure to take the eye drops as suggested by the doctor. The doctor will give you certain antibiotic eye drops to help with your condition and it will help the inflammation to reduce and eye drops will keep the eyes lubricated. Even if you think the eyes are not dry, you have to instill the eye drops. Doing so will prevent the risk of getting flap dislodgement and infection. If there are 2 medications, then it is better to leave some gap in-between.
- Do not rub the eyes
If you try to rub or touch the eyes, then the flap will get shifted from its position. In such a case, there is a risk of getting certain complications. It is better that you do not rub the eyes for at least 2 weeks after the surgery.
- Make sure to wear the protective eye shield
If you are going out or even if you are at home, you have to wear an eye shield or plastic shield. Do this for at least 3 to 4 nights after the surgery.
- Protect the eyes from UV rays
Getting your eyes exposed to UV rays can lead to regression or scarring. Therefore, it is important that you wear dark sunglasses during the day for at least 1 week. This way the chances will be less.
- Don’t apply eye makeup
Make sure that you do not apply eye makeup for at least one week or any kind of lotion around the eyes. If any kind of foreign particle gets inside the eye then the chances of infection can increase.
- Take bath and not showers
If you take shower, do swimming then there are high chances of getting an eye infection. So, it is better that you avoid these things for at least 2 weeks. Do not rub the eyes with a towel.
- Do not drive
Driving is suggested to be avoided for at least 2 days after the surgery. Before you start driving, ask the doctor whether it is safe or not. If the eyes are not healed, then you won’t be allowed to drive.
